ADVANCE Executive Training Program Update
On April 23, 2009, CDAD launched the 10‐month ADVANCE Executive-Level CDC Training Program designed to offer relevant, timely training, and one-on-one coaching to help community development organizations navigate a path for their organizations. To date, over 62 individuals and 37 organizations have benefitted from the training. Reviews from the program have been very positive.
Thus far, participants have learned how to engage in real‐time strategic planning and how to determine an organization’s competitive advantage. They’ve received intense training on board development and recruitment—including the essentials of effective board meetings, board ambassadorship and how to develop a common language among board and staff. In the “Strategic Partnerships” session, trainees learned about the strategic alliance continuum—including cooperation, coordination, collaboration, strategic alliance and corporate integration.
For sessions five and six, CDAD partnered with Community Legal Resources to present “Legal Issues in Time of Crisis” and “Adaptive Strategies for Changing Times.” The lawyers in these sessions—yielding from Dykema, Dickinson Wright PLLC, and Barris, Scot, Denn & Drinker, PLLC— offered critical information in the areas of corporate, real estate, and employment law.
